Dog Hind Leg Support Brace | Knee Stabiliser for Injury Recovery

Dog Hind Leg Support Brace | Knee Stabiliser for Injury Recovery

A dog hind leg knee support brace made of high-elastic SBR neoprene with built-in rigid metal support strips and multiple adjustable Velcro straps. Features night-reflective strips and a quick-release buckle shoulder strap. Available in left and right leg configurations across sizes XS–L (10–65 lbs). Two style options: basic non-support and upgraded metal-support with reflective strips. Colours: black, red, blue. For CCL tears, patellar luxation, arthritis, and post-operative stabilisation.

When a dog tears a cruciate ligament or dislocates a patella, every unsupported step risks extending the injury. Surgery repairs the structure, but the weeks before and after the procedure demand mechanical stabilisation that a simple bandage cannot provide. This Vsun dog hind leg support brace wraps the stifle in high-elastic SBR neoprene reinforced with rigid internal metal stays, creating a semi-rigid exoskeleton that limits harmful joint motion while permitting controlled ambulation.

Five Clinical Reasons to Stock This Brace

  • CCL Partial Tears (Conservative Management): Not every cruciate case goes straight to surgery. For partial tears managed conservatively, the brace limits cranial tibial thrust—the motion that stresses the damaged ligament—reducing pain and preventing progression to a complete rupture.
  • Post-TPLO / Post-FHO Support: In the critical 6–12 weeks after orthopaedic surgery, the brace serves as an external check against excessive flexion or rotation that could compromise the repair.
  • Patellar Luxation (Grade I–III): The medial and lateral stabilisation provided by the metal stays helps keep the patella within the trochlear groove during walking, reducing the frequency of luxation events.
  • Canine Osteoarthritis: For chronic degenerative joint disease, the brace provides warmth (via neoprene insulation), compression (reducing effusion), and mechanical support (offloading the joint capsule).
  • Wound & Incision Protection: The full-wrap design physically prevents the dog from licking or biting surgical sites, replacing the need for an e-collar in many cases.

Thoughtful Design Details

The SBR neoprene body is the same material used in human orthopaedic braces—four-way stretch for anatomical conformity, closed-cell structure for warmth retention, and a smooth interior face that won’t abrade the coat. Two rigid metal stays run along the medial and lateral aspects of the stifle, anchored in sewn channels that prevent migration during movement.

removable shoulder strap routes under the belly and clips to the opposite side of the brace, preventing downward slippage—the most common failure mode of leg-only wraps. Reflective strips are bonded (not printed) onto the brace body, maintaining visibility through months of use and washing.

Wearing Instructions

  1. Wrap the brace around the affected hind leg with Velcro facing outward. Adjust strap tension to leg circumference and secure.
  2. Route the shoulder strap under the dog’s belly. Clip the buckle on the opposite side of the brace body. Fine-tune strap length for a snug but non-restrictive fit.
  3. Remove the brace 2–3 times daily to allow skin ventilation. Do not leave on during overnight sleep to prevent irritation from extended contact.

Important Clinical Note

This brace is a rehabilitation support device, not a replacement for professional veterinary diagnosis or surgical intervention. All patients should be formally assessed by a veterinarian before brace use. The brace is contraindicated for unstable fractures and should not be the sole stabilisation method where internal fixation is clinically indicated.

For the thousands of dogs that present annually with stifle instability—and for the clinics that manage them—this dog hind leg support brace provides an accessible, non-invasive stabilisation layer that spans the full care timeline: pre-surgical comfort, post-surgical protection, and long-term degenerative joint management.
